“The most exciting Irish short story writer of his generation.” – The Sunday Times (London)

One of Ireland’s most hotly tipped writing talents and The New Yorker contributor Kevin Barry makes his first appearance at the IAC to discuss his new story collection published by Graywolf Press, Dark Lies the Island, with Vanity Fair contributing editor Elissa Schappell.

Barry’s dazzling language, razor-sharp ear for the vernacular, and keen eye for the tragedies and comedies of daily life invest the tales of this new story collection with a startling vitality. Dark Lies the Island was shortlisted for the Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award, and as one of the most acclaimed collections in Europe in many years, it heralds the arrival of a new master of the short story.
