Magic
Tree House:
Leprechaun in Late Winter
Saturday, March 20 | 1 pm
FREE
Join internationally-beloved children’s book authors Mary Pope
Osborne and Natalie Pope Boyce for an afternoon celebration
of the 43rd book in the popular Magic Treehouse series, Leprechaun
in Late Winter. In this installment, Jack and Annie are on
their third mission to find (and inspire!) creative people to bring happiness
to others through the arts. Set in Ireland in the early 1900s, the book follows
Jack and Annie as they meet an Irish girl and go on a magical adventure that
changes the girl’s life—she grows up to be Lady Gregory, who helped
to revive interest in the Irish legends, started a theater, and helped the Irish
people regain both their heritage and their pride. Leprechaun in
Late Winter celebrates Ireland’s rich storytelling
legacy in an inspiring and magical way. After reading this captivating story,
readers have the opportunity to learn more about Irish culture in the nonfiction
companion, Magic Tree House Research Guide #21: Leprechauns and Irish
Folklore. Both publications are illustrated
by Sal Murdocca.
Since its debut in 1992, the hugely popular Magic Tree House series
has sold more than 64 million copies in North America, and continues to be one
of the most renowned and beloved children’s series today. The Magic
Tree House Research Guides, which launched in 2000, now include 21 titles
and have sold more than 4 million copies. The books have been translated
into 28 different languages in 31 countries, and are widely regarded among children,
teachers, and parents alike for their power to instill a passion for reading.
