The Irish Arts Center is located in Manhattan’s famous Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood, at 553 West 51st Street. An area traditionally known for its large Irish-American population and rough character, Hell’s Kitchen has experienced significant urban renewal since the 1980s and is now home to a thriving arts scene. The Irish Arts Center is easily reachable by public transit and car, and is within one hour from almost anywhere in the Greater New York Metropolitan area.

From Brooklyn

• By Car:

  Take Brooklyn-Queens Expressway to Brooklyn Bridge; get off at Chambers Street exit; continue onChambers Street to West Side Highway; turn right and head northbound on West Side Highway; turn right onto West 50th Street; turn left onto 10th Avenue; turn left on West 51st Street;Irish Arts Centerwill be on your right. • Public transportation:

  Take the C or E train to 50th Street (and 8th Avenue).  Additional options include the N or R train to49th Street (and 7th Avenue), 1 train to 50th Street (and Broadway), or the B train to 7th Avenue (and53rd Street). 

From Queens

• By Car:

  Take I-495 Manhattan-bound to Queens-Midtown Tunnel; turn right onto Tunnel Exit St.; turn left and continue on East 39th Street until 6th Avenue; turn right and continue on 6th Ave. until 51st Street; left onto 51st St.; Irish Arts Center is on the right between 10th Ave and 11th Ave. See link at bottom for information on parking facilities.

• Public Transportation:

  Take (7) train to Times Square-42nd Street; walk east on 42nd Street to 42nd and 8th Avenue; take C train to 50th Street; walk west on West 51st Street. Irish Arts Center will be on your right between 10th Ave. and 11th Ave.

From Staten Island

• By Car:

  Take Staten Island Expressway to Verrazano Bridge; merge onto Brooklyn-Queens Expressway; take BQE to Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel; turn right onto West Side Highway; turn right onto West 50th Street; left on 10th Ave.; left on West 51st Street; Irish Arts Center will be on your right. • Public Transportation:

  Take Staten Island Ferry to South Ferry; take (1) train to 50th Street; walk west on West 51st Street; Irish Arts Center will be on your right between 10th Ave. and 11th Ave.

From New Jersey

• By Car:

  Take I-95 toward the Lincoln Tunnel; merge onto NJ-495 and continue through Lincoln Tunnel; take the exit toward Dyer Avenue; keep left at the fork and follow signs for New York 9A; continue onto Dyer Avenue; turn left on West 42nd Street; turn right onto 10th Avenue; turn left onto West 51st Street; Irish Arts Center will be on the right. • Public Transportation:

  Take the PATH Northeast Corridor train to Penn Station; from Penn Station take the (1) train to 50thStreet. Walk east on West 51st Street. The Irish Arts Center will be on your right between 10th Ave.and 11th Ave.

From Westchester

• By Car:

  Take the Saw Mill Parkway south to the Henry Hudson Parkway; take the Henry Hudson Parkway to the West Side Highway; turn left onto 50th Street; drive two blocks and turn left onto 10th Ave.; drive one block and turn left onto West 51st Street;Irish Arts Center will be on your right. • Public Transportation:

  Take Metro-North Railroad Hudson, Harlem or New Haven lines to Grand Central Terminal; from Grand Central Station take the Times Square Shuttle (S) train to Times Square-42nd Street; walk to 8thAve and 42nd Street; take the E or C train to 50th St; Walk west on 51st Street; Irish Arts Center will be on your right between 10th Ave. and 11th Ave.

From Long Island

• By Car:

  Take the Long Island Expressway west (I-495) to the Queens-Midtown Tunnel; turn right onto Tunnel Exit St.; turn left and continue on East 39th Street until 6th Avenue; turn right and continue on 6th Ave.until 51st Street; left onto 51st St.; Irish Arts Center is on the right between 10th Ave and 11th Ave. See link at bottom for information on parking facilities.

• Public Transportation:

  Take the Long Island Railroad to Penn Station; walk to 34th St.-Penn Station; take the C or E train to 50th Street; Walk west on 51st Street; Irish Arts Center will be on your right between 10th Ave. and 11th Ave.

Crosstown Buses

The M50 which runs along 50th and 49th Streets arrives approx. every 20 minutes on weekdays.  Eastbound buses can be caught on the south east corner of 50th Street and 10th Avenue.

The M31 begins its route on the Upper East Side and travels along 57th Street to end just north of us at11th Avenue and 54th Street.

Parking

There is a garage located on 51st Street between 10th and 11th Avenues and an outdoor parking lot located on 51st Street between 11th and 12th. Both locations are situated on the south side of the street.
